EXPERIENCE

• Currently working as the Chief Architect for M&D (Monitoring and Diagnostics) in the SSG (Software Solutions Group) of GE Energy.

• Worked for GE Energy at Norfolk, VA as a Lead Design Engineer interfacing between the Software Development and Application Engineering groups.

• Worked as Software Engineer at GE Global Research Center in the Advanced Mechanical Technologies lab. Worked extensively on projects for GE Transportation Systems (GE Rail).

• Six-Sigma Green Belt certified in GE.

KEY WORK AREAS IN GE

• Remote Monitoring and Diagnostics : Reliability Centered Maintenance software for Turbines, Generators and other machinery. The software processes Sensor data coming from the controller and flags anomalies for non-normal operation modes. The data is collected for reporting machine performance and further diagnosis.
  
  In current role, maintaining the Architecture and long-term Strategy for the whole System comprised of clustered J2EE applications running on JBoss, Oracle 10g database and C++ back-end calculation engine.

• Re-Architecting the M&D Centre : Actively involved in a project to the Re-Architect the M&D Centre for GE Energy. This involves new Hardware and Redesign of key Databases and Applications. Had Opportunity to understand all aspects of Monitoring from data being generated on the Turbine to processed on Central machines. Also proposed SOA as the solution to better integrate different applications.

• Performance Reports - Olympics 2004 : Designed performance reports on data collected from different Diesel Generator packs used for providing power for the various events. These reports developed using Crystal Reports give a high-level summary of machine performance and help in making future operation decisions.

• Life Estimation : Working on a software for performing reliability calculations for component life based on past operation history and life models. The software is developed in Visual Basic with XML data input and interacting with an external advanced calculation engine.

• Knowledge Based Engineering : Lead the development of Knowledge-Based Configurators that control CAD models (Unigraphics) of Locomotive components and modify geometry based on Design Rules managed using Knowledge Fusion. Worked as onsite coordinator for a global team of 8 GE Engineers and 12 drafters. Involved in regular customer interactions and facilitated User Trainings.

• Locomotive Design : Thorough understanding of locomotive design and basics of manufacturing processes. Worked on shop-floor while understanding the Design and Manufacturing process.

• Steam Turbine Secondary Flow Analysis : Developed Flow Simulation Models using GE proprietory flow network solvers. Studied the flow using these models and compared results with CFD analsysis. Also provided inputs for design of seals to be used in the turbine.

• Business Process Digitization : J2EE, Oracle, Web Servies, SOAP. Evaluated emerging technologies like Web Services and proposed enterprise-wide solutions to improve business processes and reduce cycle time.

• Automation of Design and Analysis tools : Unix scripting, TCL, PERL. Experience in Visual C++ (MFC), Visual Basic

• Rigorously followed the six-sigma approach in each project by clearly defining measurables and collecting data to validate quality of the system.
