EXPERIENCE
Senior Systems Engineer at GE Energy :
Leading System Engineering initiatives for the Smart Grid in areas of Asset Management and Demand Response.
Exploring advanced Condition Monitoring technologies to Predict the health
of Transmission and Distribution Assets. This Asset Knowledge is used to Predict and Prevent failure, influence Maintenance decisions and thus improve overall Grid Reliability.
As part of the Demand Response initiative, leading the effort to Analyze individual consumer load profiles from Metering Systems and Historical data sources.
Evaluating the impact of Demand Response events like Peak Pricing and Emergency Load Shed on these load profiles.
Defining the Architecture Strategy for Gas Turbine Controls that will transform Plant data into Knowledge to be used at the Enterprise-level. This will allow easy
integration of Power Plant data with Enterprise applications like CMMS and ERP based on a Common Information Model.
Involved in developing the long-term Technical Vision for the Controls Product-line.
Lead an initiative for the Oil and Gas business to develop an Asset Management Dashboard using GE Fanuc Proficy and Bently System1 Software. This Dashboard provides a holistic view of an Oil Refinery with a
hierarchy of Assets based on ISA-95 standards. Using real-time data from the Assets and Plant maintenance records, life-estimation algorithms are used to determine the health of individual Assets.
This Knowledge of Plant Health is used for making key Maintenance decisions to maximize the value from the Assets.
Chief Architect at GE Energy :
Developed the Technology Roadmap for the Gas Turbine Remote Monitoring and Diagnostics (RM&D) Software product-line. Maintained the overall System Architecture and
initiated Synergy programs directed towards developing a Common User Interface, Common Configuration and Calculation Platform.
Actively worked with Strategic and Product Marketing teams to define the 3-year Technology plan.
Defined processes to validate and incorporate upcoming advanced Technologies into the existing System.
Provided Technical direction to Software development teams through regular Design and Code Reviews.
Lead Design Engineer at GE Energy :
Lead the development of key areas of a Condition Monitoring Software called CCAP (earlier known as ICAS) and a J2EE-based Enterprise Portal.
The software written in C++ processes real-time data collected from different sources like Turbine Controllers, Plant DCS, HMI/SCADA Systems, etc.
The data is passed through a Rules model that compares the current operation against a pre-defined baseline.
Anomalies are flagged for deviations from the baseline indicating signatures of failure thus alerting operators of potential failures.
A J2EE-based Web Interface was developed that shows the anomalies flagged by the Engine along with supporting data that helps make decision on actions needed.
Research Engineer at GE Global Research :
Lead the development of Knowledge-Based Configurators that control 3D CAD models (in Unigraphics) of Locomotive components and modify geometry based on pre-defined Design Rules.
Was responsible for interviewing the Locomotive Design Engineers to understand their Design decisions, study previous Designs and incorporate this Knowledge
into the geometry using a tool called Knowledge-Fusion. Worked as onsite coordinator at the GE Rail facility in Erie, PA leading a global team of 8 GE Engineers and 12 drafters.
